Instructions
  1. Wash the lentils and place them in pan along with approx 1 litre of water and a pinch of salt and bring to the boil
  2. Remove any froth, reduce the heat and leave to simmer for around 15 minutes.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and leave to stand until the lentils thicken.
  4. Add the following to the lentils and stir in well: Curry paste Turmeric Cumin Seeds Butter/Dairy Free Spread Garlic
Brown Basmati Rice
  1. Add the rice to a pan along with twice the volume of water and bring to the boil
  2. Immediately reduce the heat to a simmer, cover the pan and continue to lightly simmer until all the water is gone (around 15 – 20 minutes)
  3. Don’t ever stir rice whilst it is cooking this way – let the steam do the work to get it fluffy and separated.
  4. Dissolve the pinch of Saffron in a teaspoon of hot water and add to the centre of the rice with stems and leave for 1 minute before stirring in – this will give a multicoloured rice effect.
